Work at home business? I know this is something you have been thinking about or you would not be reading this article. I would really like to know the answer to the question "what is holding you back?". Later on in this article I will give you an opportunity to tell me what your thoughts are.

In the meantime let me make a few guesses at what the drawbacks are.

Fear is probably the biggest drawback.

"There is nothing to fear but fear itself." (Franklin D. Roosevelt---1941) That is a truism that should never be forgotten. Think about it for a minute----, what is the worst thing that could happen to you while you are sitting in front of your computer banging away on your keypad?  An asteroid is gong to come right out of the blue and strike you right on top of the head! -- Slim chance of that happening, right :-)

There is also the fear and frustration of the unknown.

 Persons who are new to the computer may be afraid they are going to break something that that will cause expensive repairs to their computer.

That will not happen. The only way you can damage your computer is break it deliberately with a hammer or some such object. The computer is a business tool, designed so you can make mistakes, and easily erase them and start over again.

I don't know how to use a computer !

That's a common thought, particularly among older folks like myself (I Am 77 ) But again there is nothing to fear because there are tons of places to go on the internet that will help you become proficient at navigating around the internet. I can help you find the best places to learn.

I know nothing about the meanings of internet terminologies!

That is another common thought among persons new to the computer and the internet. Again there is nothing to fear, because as you begin to learn your way around your computer and the internet the terminologies will become commonplace and you will begin to understand their meanings. Don't let computer language hold you back.

On your computer you may find some help in an online encyclopedia called Wikipedia. Type that name into your search bar. when it comes up, find the search on area on the left hand side, and type in the words you are looking for. In there you may or may not find an answer, it is not always complete, but it can be very helpful.

Where am I going to find help if and when I need it.

When you start building Your Work at home business you will see there are tons of people offering their services to help you. That is what most of us who are already in the in the internet attraction marketing business do.

I am going to let you in on something most attraction marketers never talk about. We are a greedy bunch. We are looking new people who are determined to succeed in their new venture. I have heard it is expensive to start a new business, Is it?

Brick and mortar businesses can be very expensive to start. Things such as tools, storage space, office space, employees, inventory all need to be considered and can run into the tens of thousands of dollars.

I personally have started three businesses in my lifetime, all three were very successful. My First business is still running under the leadership of my sons. It was started 56 years ago. The second one, I sold at a profit after working it for nine years.

My work at home business is successful and becoming more so as I continue to learn and develop. The great part is I did it on a budget. Very little cost was involved. Another thing I find hard to believe myself is that soon my income is going to exceed the total income of my other two businesses combined.

Yes you can start a work at home business on the internet for very little cost. You can do it on a budget.

When will my  work at home business start earning an income?

The Truthful answer is, it depends on you yourself. Are you willing to devote at least ten hours per week to your new business, fifteen would be better. Are you willing to devote the time it will take to learn new things. Do you have the intestinal fortitude to stick with the learning process?

Some people with these personal attributes are able begin paying their costs within weeks and enjoying a modest income inside of three months. For others it takes a little longer depending on the personalities.

Consider your work at home business like a bank account. The more you put into your account the more you can take out. Nothing in--nothing out it's that simple. Your business will work the same way.

Eighteen months ago I was a total computer illiterate. I had to start from scratch and yet at my age I found it to be an exciting, pleasing, and rewarding experience. If this old man can do it, you can do it too.

Honestly, ninety seven percent of new businesses fail. They fail because their owners are not dedicated, they are not willing to devote the time and the effort it takes to be a winner. Can't Teach an Old Dog New Tricks ?

You can't teach an old dog new tricks is a very old saying that many people except as fact. It really has nothing to do with learning new things. "The New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy" tells us what it really means. " People who have long been used to doing things in a particular way will not abandon their habits".

Another old idiom "It's never too late to mend" means this, "Your never too old to change your ways. Learning is always possible." Whether you are young, old, or oldest, your are never to old to learn something new.

Yesterday I met a man, eighty two years old who recently started a thriving internet marketing business. I was in my seventies when I started my internet marketing business. Neither one of us has had a problem with the learning process.

Almost everyone at one time or another has dreamed of being an entrepreneur. No more alarm clock, no more long commute to and from work. No boss to bow down too during working hours, no restriction on how much you can earn. Take a vacation whenever you want, not when it's convenient for the company you work for.

Thousands of people are now turning to the internet to find new jobs. A large percentage of those are wanting  to start their own work at home business.

If I never looked at the unemployment figures I could tell something was going on because all of my published articles about working from home have increased tremendously in readership.

People over fifty have worked at a nine to five job all of there lives. Now they have fewer commitments, little or no mortgage to tie them down, Children have grown up and left home, and now the entrepreneurial spirit is starting to grow again.

Mature people have acquired a lot of knowledge over the years and that knowledge would be wasted unless they do something constructive with it. Don't let your age hold you back, after all the best part of your life is ahead of of you. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, keep away from that kind of mindset.

For me, retirement was a bore. I have owned three  successful businesses over the years. One is still alive and well under the leadership of my son's and grandson. The second one I sold about four years ago. This article is part of the of the third up and coming business in my lifetime.

This business has been a challenge because I have never done anything like it before. The learning process has really been more fun than challenging. It was challenging in the sense that I never knew anything about the computer or anything having to do with internet marketing until I started this business.

What a sense of accomplishment, and just think, You can do it too.

I know how depressing it can be for anyone who has worked hard all their life, felt secure in their job and because of some thing outside of your control you find yourself without a job and without an income.

I have never been without a job. I am seventy six years young and still working because I choose to be. For over forty years I owned a home improvement business. I retired and gave the business to my sons about fifteen years ago. But I couldn’t stay retired so I started a landscaping business.

After ten years of that I sold that business and retired again, but again I couldn’t stay retired. I had forty years experience in the building trades so I tried to find a job in the building trades, I distributed copies of my resume all over town, had a good number of interviews but when they came to date of birth, that was the end of the interview.

Now I decided to go in a totally different direction. I had no experience at all with computers, or the workings of the internet. I decided to get an education on how to do marketing using the internet. In a few months I had a business working out of my home.

Now I have the shortest commute to work that anyone could possibly have, from the breakfast table to my office. I only use my car or pick up truck for recreation or shopping.

There are so many people out there when they reach a certain age, begin to think it’s too late to start a brand new career. I am here to tell you, it’s never too late to begin. I was already in my seventies when I started my new career and to date I think it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.

Be Comfortable, Work at Home

 Work at home, write your own articles for your business at home, that's easy to say but not so easily done. For most people writing does not come easy. Some people are born with the ability to be good writers, but most of us have to learn how it's done.

I have often said, if you can carry a good conversation with a group of friends, you can write copy for your business. When talking with friends you are talking about things you have in common, things you enjoy talking about.

No different when writing copy for your business. When you work at home your friends are out there on the internet. The people you are talking to have the same things in common as you do, at least that is the audience you want to target. It doesn't matter what business your in you talk to people with the same interests.

The only difference in talking to a group of close friends and to people on the internet is, it's a one way conversation. So your writing needs to be informative, easy to read. Your content should be chock full of valuable information.

When you work at home, write your own articles for your business at home it would good to first, create an outline for the subject you will be writing about. What you consider to be the most valuable points in your article should be discussed first. It's like a headline in a newspaper, it draws attention and that's what your reader wants to see first.

Then choose three or four other valuable points to discuss. These points should carry the the theme thru out your article. The theme of your article is your title. It is important that you don't stray from the theme.  You don't want to appear to be rambling.

A nice tidy article is between four hundred and six hundred words long with short crisp, clear and value packed paragraphs. Writing in this manner will keep your readers interested.

Short paragraphs with double spacing leaves lots of white space, your articles will be easier on the eyes.  The value in each paragraph will keep your readers looking for more.

An article that is too short is in danger of not providing enough value to your readers. You also need to help your readers to understand you really are a professional who cares about them. An article is too long when your reader losses interest and hits the refresh button before the end of your article.

You will feel comfortable with that person and begin to trust him because he showed himself to be an expert in his field. More than that, he showed an interest in your needs.

That salesman was a professional.  That's what you must learn to be.  That salesman wasn't selling cars he was selling himself, that's what you must learn to do.

Do you think that a car salesman was born with the ability to market automobiles?  Absolutely not, it took time to learn about all the cars on the market today. Their good points their bad points, motors transmissions, accessories and so on.

Mistakes were made and he learned from them. But he finally became the kind of person every dealership want's working for them because he sells cars to satisfied costomers. Those customers keep coming back over and over again, just to deal with him, because they trust him.
